The Maryland Lottery Achieves Record-Breaking Sales for FY 2008

Based on fiscal year (FY) 2008 data released this week, gkv client, The Maryland Lottery, achieved its 11th straight year of record sales topping the $1.673 billion dollar mark and surpassing state estimates for the fiscal year, which ended June 20, 2008. The sales included an increase of 6.1 percent compared to last fiscal year. The Lottery set records in every major category including total sales, prizes paid to players, commissions earned by Lottery retailers and revenues returned to the state to help support vital state-funded programs such as education, public safety, public health and the environment. Since the start of FY 2008, gkv has served as the creative agency of record for the Lottery creating comprehensive campaigns and collateral materials that promote Lottery products and its overall brand. In a recent story with The Daily Record from June 12, 2008, Lottery Director Buddy Roogow attributed the sales increase to a variety of factors including solid marketing and new scratch-off game products like a scratch-n-sniff Dubble Bubble Doubler.
