gkv and the Maryland Lottery ask you to practice good Tailgating Etiquette this football season
The Maryland Lottery and gkv launched advertising elements for the Tailgate Tripler scratch-off, featuring three designs with the chance to win $10,000. The Tailgating Etiquette campaign kicks off the 2008 football season in the greater Baltimore and Washington, D.C., markets with a series of broadcast, online and grassroots marketing elements.
For the thousands of Marylanders set to tailgate at professional and college football games this fall, the Tailgating Etiquette campaign features rules to follow when enjoying pre-game food and fun. Some of the rules include:
> Never touch another man's spatula.
> First one to the tailgate lot is king.
> Don't talk about having to go to work tomorrow.
> Always welcome the new guy.
> Don't hit on your friend's date.
> Never leave the cook stranded without a beverage.
> Warn friends about the hot wings.
> Body paint still requires underwear.
> Count friends, not calories.
> If it will bring the team good luck, do it.
TV spots, "Hyena Boy" and "Be Patient," both directed by Neil Tardio, demonstrate two the rules. Online banner ads on BaltimoreRavens.com, Redskins.com and PressBoxOnline.com feature even more tailgating etiquette suggestions and link visitors to a microsite that showcases the new campaign and scratch-off game. Visitors can interact with each of the three Tailgate Tripler scratch-off tickets, see additional Tailgating Etiquette rules as well as outtakes from the filming of "Be Patient."
The grassroots component of the campaign will include the Maryland Lottery Tailgate Patrol street teams roaming the parking lots of both M&T Bank and FedEx stadiums handing out prizes while searching for the best tailgates. Tailgates are judged by originality, creativity and spirit. Fans can check out the Tailgate Patrol's microsite to see photos of past winners and a Tailgate Patrol's home game schedule.
